The Early Days
Cobalt Technology, founded in 2016 by Brandon and Matt as Cobalt Ridge, began with no capital, securing early network overhaul jobs for churches and businesses in Texas. Noticing a lack of reliable internet in rural areas near Wichita Falls, Brandon and Matt devised a plan to provide high-quality wireless internet over several miles, avoiding the high cost of laying cables. Their efforts paid off, and after months of planning, they used their earnings to invest in wireless equipment and lease a communications tower. Initially aiming for just 10 customers to cover costs, demand quickly grew after their first installation in February 2018. Cobalt experienced rapid growth and continuous technological advancements to remain competitive in the evolving tech industry. In 2023, they introduced gigabit internet service, directly competing with major national providers in the Greater Wichita Falls area.
